Electrolysis for Transgender Clients

What Is Electrolysis — and Why It Works

Electrolysis is the only method recognized by the FDA for permanent hair removal. It works by inserting a fine, sterile probe into the natural opening of each hair follicle. A small amount of electrical current is then applied to destroy the follicle’s growth center, preventing the hair from growing back.

Unlike laser, electrolysis:

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does treatment take?

Hair grows in cycles, so multiple treatments are needed. Most clients start seeing results in a few months, with full clearance typically reached in 12–18 months.

Is electrolysis painful?

You may feel a slight tingling or heat. We tailor treatment settings to your sensitivity and offer numbing tips and pre-care suggestions for comfort.

Is electrolysis really permanent?

Yes. It’s the only FDA-approved method for permanently removing hair by destroying the follicle's growth center.

Does it work on light or gray hair?

Absolutely. Electrolysis works on all hair types, including those that laser hair removal cannot treat.
